Child and Family Services (C-92) Jurisdiction Projects
Kaniikaniit Consulting is passionate about children and families. We provide consulting services to First Nations as they pursue jurisdiction through the Federal legislation - An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Children, Youth, and Families (commonly referred to as Bill C92). C92 is enabling legislation that provides Nations with the opportunity to exercise jurisdiction by enacting child and family laws and creating services that meet the needs of their children, youth, families, and communities.
Kaniikaniit Consulting founder, Kathy Waddell, has dedicated the past 17 years supporting families and developing child and family services for First Nations. She is currently working with several BC First Nations to develop and expand their child and family services programs, conduct community engagement, develop service delivery models and plan for the implementation of their own Indigenous laws to address the crisis of Indigenous children in care. This work actively moves Indigenous People towards reconciliation, self-determination and resuming jurisdiction over their children.
